Mako in the amusement park SeaWorld Orlando ( Orlando , Florida , USA ) is a steel roller coaster model Hyper Coaster from the manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard , which opened on June 10, 2016. The 1,451 meter long line reaches a height of 61 meters from which the trains are accelerated to a top speed of 118 km / h.

history

Mako was unveiled to the public on May 27, 2015. The first parts of the roller coaster were delivered to the park in August and the lift hill and the first descent were completed in early January . While the rest of the construction work was progressing, the first car of the train was unveiled on February 16, 2016 at a press conference.

Theming

The name Mako refers to mako sharks , which are among the fastest sharks. The entrance to the station will be built near the previous Shark Encounter attraction .

The track is 1451 meters long and the | lift hill is 61 meters high. With the exception of the purple top, the rails are blue and the supports are light blue. The type of rail that is used on Mako is the Bolliger & Mabillard standard boxing rail. It consists of a massive rectangular steel body. Starting from this body, the actual guide tubes are connected by individual struts, slightly offset to the outside above.

Trains

When Mako three from coming fiberglass crafted and steel cables used. Each of them has seven cars with four seats per row. One train therefore holds 28 passengers. Snap-in lap bars are used as a restraint system.

The train fairing is designed in several shades of blue and the front is modeled on the eponymous shark. The seat shells and hanger bars are purple and the ironing cushions are turquoise. The wheel suspensions are gray.

Records

When it opens, Mako will be the fastest and longest roller coaster in Florida and will reach the same height as the current record holder SheiKra in sister park Busch Gardens Tampa .
