Maks and the Minors were a rock band from Hamburg . Their music is made up of elements from rock , polka , ska and pop . The texts are in English .

history

In 1998, while still at school, Max Kretzenbacher and Jakob Deiml founded a band called Collateral Damage, which in 2001 released an EP called "Demon" on their own. After finishing school the band was disbanded. Kretzenbacher started a solo career and released the EP Where the Wild Things Are in 2004.

In the further course of 2004 the former band members came together again, but this time under the name "Maks and the Minors". When they finished their first album Movin 'Out in 2006 and presented it internationally at a private event of their record label Polur / Membran, Ken Hensley (ex- Uriah Heep ) happened to be present. He was impressed with Maks and the Minors and decided to take over the production of the album. The originally planned release date has been postponed; the songs on the album were re-recorded after some changes in March 2007 in Alicante, Spain . Ken Hensley played the Hammond organ himself on three pieces . On October 19, 2007, the album was finally released under the title Movin 'Out .

Sebastian Helm left the band in June 2008 for professional reasons. At the end of 2008 the band began recording their second album, this time using completely analog equipment. It's called Good Morning, Samsara! and was released on July 14, 2009.

Maks and the Minors played their last concert on July 29, 2011 at the Skandaløs Festival in Schleswig-Holstein . The band decided after 7 years to devote themselves to other projects.

The already started recordings for the originally planned third studio album resulted in around two to three finished songs, which at that time were also published on Internet portals such as the band's own MySpace channel, but are no longer available and cannot be found today.

In 2015 Max Kretzenbacher released his first solo studio album called Totentanz in collaboration with his former drummer Niki Schliebs . In contrast to the previous lyrics , Kretzenbacher sings in German this time.

On August 24, 2018, the third EP entitled "Love Songs for Beginners" was released and was only offered online as a download or stream. Like its predecessor, this EP was largely self-directed and in collaboration with drummer Niki Schliebs.
