The Malý Bezděz (German Neuberg , also Teufelsberg , 577 m) is a mountain near the town of the same name Bezděz ( Schlossbösig ) not far from Doksy ( Hirschberg am See ) in Liberecký kraj in the Czech Republic . Together with the Velký Bezděz ( Bösig ), the mountain forms the distinctive double formation of the Bösige , which is a symbol of Northern Bohemia .
On the mountain are the small remains of a Swedish hill from the Thirty Years War . Because of its primeval beech population and the warmth-loving flora and fauna, the mountain was placed under state protection together with Velký Bezděz in 1949 as a national nature reserve.
