history

The present-day city of Malayer was founded in 1808 under the name Daulatabad in order to bring the troubled area on the Zāgros Mountains better under the control of the state. In the 1960s, the city was known for decorated horses and carriages. Every day around 25 horse-drawn carriages were available in the city center as a tourist attraction. The most popular destination of these trips was the Park-e Malyer city park . Park-e Malayer is a trademark of Hamadan Province. The park is a few kilometers outside the city and contains some small lakes and lush vegetation.

Hamadan Province is located in a semi-arid region. Parks such as Park e Malayer, with its natural beauty and lush vegetation, were quiet and welcoming places in the region. During the hot summers, many people spend time in Malayer. The people of Malayer speak the Malayer accent, which is one of the local Persian accents. Tehran Persian, immigrated Turkish, and Kurdish are also spoken. Park-e Malayer was renamed Park-e Seifieh ten years ago , referring to the name of the Qajar Prince Seyfodoleh, who founded the park about 75 years ago. He is buried in a family crypt near the park. He was the leader of the Azodi, the most famous family in Malayer.

Malayer, with its suburbs, has a population of more than 190,000. It is connected to Hamadan by a highway. Cities in Shahrestan (administrative district) Malayer are Azandaryan, Jokar, Samen, Zangeneh, Hussain abade Nazem, Zangeneh and Avarzaman. With all the villages and hamlets together, the district had around 285,000 inhabitants in 2008.
