Masoud Mostafa Jokar (born September 21, 1977 in Malayer , Hamadan , Iran ; Persian مسعود مصطفی جوکار) is an Iranian wrestler . He won at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , a silver medal in free style in the featherweight .
Career
Masoud Mostafa Jokar started wrestling as a teenager in his native town in 1988. He joined the wrestling club Takhti Malayer . His coaches were mainly Said Goudarzi and Esmail Dangesaraki. He is an employee of an oil company. During his career, the 1.64 meter tall athlete wrestled in four weight classes. He started in bantamweight and increased over the years to featherweight and lightweight up to welterweight .
He began his international career in 2000 when he took part in the Asian Cup in Guilin / China . In the bantamweight he finished 8th. A later came he came in a World Cup tournament in Baltimore in bantamweight behind Kerry Boumans, of the United States in 2nd place. In 2002 he started at the Asian Games in Busan and came in 6th place in the featherweight division. In 2004 he managed to qualify for participation in the Olympic Games in Athens. In Athens he was in excellent shape and defeated there at featherweight Sahit Prizreni from Albania , Besik Aslanashvili from Greece and Kenji Inoue from Japan . In the final he lost to Yandro Quintana from Cuba . He won an Olympic silver medal with it.
In 2006 he took part in the World Championships in Guangzhou . Starting in the lightweight, he retired there after a fight won by a defeat in his second fight against Leonid Spiridonow from Kazakhstan and only finished 12th. Even at the Asian Games that took place in Doha in December 2006, he could not win a medal in the lightweight. He came in 7th place there.
