Malcolm MB Sterrett

Malcolm McCurdy Burdett Sterrett (born September 21, 1942 in Norwalk, Connecticut ) is a former American government employee. From 1982 to 1987 he was a member of the American regulatory authority Interstate Commerce Commission .

Life

From 1960 to 1964, Malcolm MB Sterrett studied at Princeton University and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law with a Bachelor of Arts and in 1967 the Juris Doctor . He did his military service in the United States Marine Corps. From 1967 he worked in the legal department of the Interstate Commerce Commission. From 1972 to 1976 he was an advisor to the Republican Party on the Senate Committee on Commerce . From 1976 to 1980 he was an advisor to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation . Thereafter, Sterrett worked until 1982 as Vice President and General Counsel of the United States Railway Association . In 1982 he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to succeed George M. Stafford on the Interstate Commerce Commission. On February 12, 1982, he took up his office, which was limited to December 31, 1987. He remained in office until his successor, Karen Borlaug Phillips, took office on August 11, 1988.

He was nominated General Counsel in the Department of Health and Human Services on September 20, 1988, and was confirmed by the Senate on October 19, 1988. From 1989 to 1993 he worked for the law firm Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz, which specializes in transport companies.

From 1998 to 2015 he sat on the supervisory board, from 2006 to 2013 as chairman, of Trans World Corporation, a company that operates casinos and hotels primarily in Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria. From 1998 to 2006 he was also on the board of directors of Telos Corporation .

He has been married since 1966 and has one daughter.
