Malcolm Peyton

Malcolm C. Peyton (born January 12, 1932 ) is an American composer and music teacher.

Peyton studied music at Princeton University . He was a composition student with Roger Sessions and Edward Cone and a piano student with Edward Steuermann . With a Fulbright scholarship , he continued his training in Germany with Wolfgang Fortner . At Tanglewood Music Center he attended summer courses with Aaron Copland and Irving Fine .

He teaches contemporary music at the New England Conservatory of Music . His students include a. Gamma Skupinsky , Elliott Miles McKinley , Rodney Lister , Lee Hyla , Pang Chun-ting and Daniel Shore . He has performed as a conductor and musician at concerts in Boston and New York, a. a. at The Composers Series at the Jordan Hall of the New England Conservatory. He has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts , the Norlin Foundation, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters .
