Malcolm Pinson

Malcolm Pinson (* 1941 in Houston , Texas ; † 4. March 2002 ) was an American jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Pinson played in the Houston a. a. with Eddie Lockjaw Davis , Sweets Edison , Kenny Burrell and Arnett Cobb . In the second half of the 1970s he was a member of the saxophonist Billy Harper's band , with whom he toured Europe. Until 1998 he led his band Matt Pinson and the Jazz Warriors , with whom he played regularly in Houston jazz venues such as Cezanne and Sambuca . He had his last appearance in 2001 at the Jazz Festival in Kemah . Pinson died of kidney failure in early March 2002.

In the field of jazz he was involved in nine recording sessions between 1971 and 1987. Pinson's drumming was influenced by Art Blakey .
