Malham is a village in the British county of North Yorkshire with 120 inhabitants.
From the village, a footpath leads along the river to Malham Cove , a crescent-shaped limestone cliff that is 80 meters high and 200 meters wide. Originally, a huge waterfall poured over these cliffs from the Malham Tarn , a lake resting on a slate bed.
Today's Malham Tarn Field Center was formerly a hunting lodge and home of industrialist Walter Morrisson , who hosted Charles Darwin , John Ruskin and Charles Kingsley . Charles Kingsley was here for his book The Water Children ( The Water-Babies inspired).
