The Malinao , even Buhi or Takit , is a 1,548 m high stratovolcano on the Philippines . It is located on the border of the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur , in the Bicol region , on the island of Luzon near the Mayon and Masaraga volcanoes .
The forested mountain is described as an extinct stratovolcano that was active 500,000 to 60,000 years ago, i.e. in the Quaternary . On the east side of the volcano are the most extensive geothermal spring fields on the island of Luzon. Two extensive hot spring fields are the Naglabong and the Tiwi hot spring fields.
