Malout ( Panjabi ਮਲੋਟ ) is a city ( Municipal Council ) in the Indian state of Punjab .
The city is just under 30 km east of Abohar and 42 km west of Bathinda . Malout is located in the Muktsar district . A trunk road leads to the district capital Muktsar , 30 km to the north . The city had 81,406 inhabitants at the 2011 census. In the north of the city is the campus of the Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology (MIMIT) .
The national highways NH 10 ( Fazilka - Mandi Dabwali ) and NH 15 (Abohar – Bathinda) cross in Malout. Malout Railway Station is on the Abohar – Bathinda railway line.
