The city of Malta is located in southern Idaho with a size of 3.7 km². The city is part of Cassia County in Idaho , USA.
Surname
The city's name is derived from the Mediterranean island of Malta , where George Wilcox Burridge led his mission to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1853-55. One of his descendants, who ran the post office, named the as yet unnamed settlement Malta.
