Mammillaria wagneriana is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Mammillaria wagneriana grows individually with a flattened spherical to depressed spherical body. The shoots are dark green and up to 15 centimeters high and measure up to 20 centimeters in diameter. The short, pyramidal-shaped warts are square. They carry plenty of milky juice . The axillae are covered with thick white wool. They have no bristles. The 2 to 4 central spines are very variable. They are either straight and 2 centimeters long or they are twisted and 5 centimeters long, but always reddish horn-colored. The 9 to 10 radial spines are whitish yellow with a brown tip and are somewhat unequal. They are 0.7 to 2.1 inches long.
The dirty white flowers have a light pink central stripe and light pink tips. They measure 1.5 centimeters in diameter. The fruits are red. They contain brown seeds .
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Mammillaria wagneriana is common in the Mexican states of Aguascalientes , Durango , Jalisco and Zacatecas .
It was first described in 1932 by Friedrich Bödeker . Synonyms of Mammillaria wagneriana Boed. are Mammillaria antesbergi A.B.Lau (1991, nom. inval. ICBN -Article 29.1), Mammillaria crassa Repp. (1987) and Mammillaria antesbergiana A.B.Lau (1991).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
