Manchur ( Russian Манчжур 'the daring' ) was the name of a sea-going gunboat of the Imperial Russian Navy. Commissioned in 1887, it was involved in the Russo-Japanese War and World War I. It came into Japanese hands and was canceled in 1925. The Manchur belonged to a class of eight boats. The name of the boat corresponds to the Russian name for a resident of Manchuria .

The boat was procured as part of the fleet armament program for the years 1882-1902. It was intended for station service in the Far East. The project was developed on the basis of the gunboats Bobr ( Бобр ) and Sivuch ( Сивуч ).

The Manchur was laid down on July 28, 1886 at Burmeister & Wain in Copenhagen . The launch took place on November 22, 1886. The boat was put into service on May 23, 1887 after it had been equipped. In 1888 the Manchur took part in the naval maneuvers of the Baltic Fleet and moved to the Far East in the following year from September 22nd to October 10th. On May 5, 1890, the boat was transferred to the Siberian flotilla . The Manchur was stationed in Vladivostok and was primarily entrusted with the performance of Russian diplomatic missions in the Far East. Another task of the boat was fishing protection. Every autumn, Manchur moved to Tyuleny Island (остров Тюлений) for this purpose.

From 1895 to 1896 the boat was stationed in Chemulpo and visited Japanese, Korean and Chinese ports. The Russian Pacific Squadron visited Qingdao and Shanghai , among others . During these visits the Manchur often served as the flagship of the commander of the Pacific Squadron. In 1900 she took part in the suppression of the Boxer Uprising in China with a multinational squadron .

At the time of the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War, the Manchur was in Shanghai, where the boat was interned. After the war ended, the boat returned to Vladivostok. In 1907 the boat took part in the suppression of the uprising on the Skory mine- layer ( Скорый ). In the same year the boat underwent major repairs. The outdated armament was exchanged for new types. Until the outbreak of the First World War, Manchur and the cruiser Shemchug provided station service in Chinese ports. During the First World War the boat was the flagship of the Siberian flotilla.

On December 12, 1917, the boat submitted to Soviet power. In the spring the Manchur was decommissioned and preserved for long-term storage, but on June 30, 1918 the boat fell into the hands of the White Guards and was put back into service. After the defeat of the white troops in the Far East, the boat was transferred to Manila by Admiral Stark along with other ships and sold there to the Japanese in 1923. The proceeds from the sale of the ships and the rest of the gold that Stark carried were shared between Stark and the crews of the ships. Stark left the report on the politico-military defeat and the sale of the flotilla to Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolayevich Romanov . In Japan the Manchur sailed under the name Kimigaio-Maru 2 until 1925, when the boat was sold and scrapped.
