Manfred Rommel Prize

The Manfred Rommel Prize of the German-Turkish Forum Stuttgart has been donated by the Board of Trustees of the German-Turkish Forum Stuttgart (DTF) since 2009 . With the naming, the German-Turkish Forum pays tribute to the political achievement and the high reputation of its honorary chairman Manfred Rommel (1928–2013), especially among the immigrant population in the state capital Stuttgart and in Baden-Württemberg . The prize was awarded for the first time on October 2, 2009 at a ceremony to mark the tenth anniversary of the DTF.

Price categories

With the Manfred Rommel Prize, the DTF honors exemplary projects that significantly promote mutual understanding, good neighborliness and cooperation between German and Turkish citizens. Initiatives and personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the cultural, economic and civic integration of immigrant families can also be honored. The prize is endowed with a total of 3,000 euros.

  • 2011: Sibylle Thelen (honorary award), married couple Tülün and Berç Köşeyan (versatile civic engagement), Gökay Sofuoğlu (house 49 in the Stuttgart North Station, Turkish community in Baden-Württemberg)
  • 2013: Wolfgang Schuster (honorary award for exemplary integration policy), married couple Barbara Havlacı-Ludwig and Mehmet Havlacı (educational projects for migrant parents), orchestra of cultures (international understanding and intercultural exchange through music)
  • 2015: Employee network Daimler Türk-Treff (honorary award for exemplary culture of engagement), Yeşim and Aykut Dalgıç (international understanding through folklore dances), cultural and social initiative Stuttgart (cultural and social engagement)

The jury for the Manfred Rommel Prize consists of four DTF curators: the two chairmen of the board of trustees, Wolfgang Schuster and Süheyla İnce Demir, and the curators Sibylle Thelen and Sibel Yüksel.
