Sibylle Thelen

Sibylle Thelen (* 1962 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist , author , Turkologist and director of the State Center for Civic Education Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Thelen studied political science , communication studies and Turkish studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU Munich). She then worked as a journalist and, among other things, was the chief editor of the weekend supplement of the Stuttgarter Zeitung . As an author, she has written several books, including a volume on Istanbul . Since July 2011 she has been Head of the Democratic Engagement (memorial work) department at the Baden-Württemberg State Center for Civic Education in Stuttgart. Since January 2020 she has headed the State Center for Civic Education Baden-Württemberg as co-director in a dual position with Lothar Frick .
