Manfred Adams

Manfred Adams (born August 28, 1931 in Cologne ; † December 9, 2019 ) was a German architect .

Life

Adams grew up in Cologne and completed an apprenticeship as a mason in the period after the Second World War in order to participate in the reconstruction . This was followed by training in drawing at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Heinz Thoma , who held an assistant position there and had recognized Adam's artistic potential, encouraged him and recommended training at the Art Academy.

From 1956 Manfred Adams studied at the Munich Art Academy with Sep Ruf , who was president and head of a master class for architecture at the time. Adams graduated in 1961 with an academy diploma.

In 1968 he founded the architectural group -AHT- (later the Stieldorf planning group ) with Günther Hornschuh and Peter Türler , in which he also worked as a partner until 1981.

At the same time, from 1972, Adams developed the half-timbered house 2000 - together with the prefabricated construction company Franz Huf - which was named "House of the Year" in 1977 by the Rhineland-Palatinate state government.

Adam's collaboration also consisted of planning and participation in the Federal Building Directorate , the Stieldorf planning group and the ZDF building staff .

Manfred Adams lived in Freiburg im Breisgau .
