Manfred Baldus (legal scholar, 1935)

Manfred Baldus (born March 7, 1935 in Haan ) is a German canon lawyer and judge .

Life

Baldus studied law at the University of Cologne . There he was with the dissertation The philosophical-theological universities in the Federal Republic of Germany. History and current legal status from February 28, 1964 to Dr. iur. PhD . From 1965 he was then a research assistant at the Institute for Canon Law at Cologne University.

Baldus was appointed presiding judge at the Cologne Regional Court in 1977. He stayed in this position until his retirement in 2000. In 1980 he was also given a teaching position at the University of Osnabrück , and in 1981 at the University of Cologne. At the latter he was made honorary professor in 1989. He works at the Institute for Canon Law at the University of Cologne.

In addition to canon law , Baldus also deals with education law and school law , in particular with the law of schools and universities that are church-sponsored.

Manfred Baldus and Stefan Muckel have published the series decisions in church matters since 1946 at Verlag de Gruyter.
