Stefan Muckel

Stefan Muckel (* 1961 in Eschweiler ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Muckel studied law at the University of Cologne , where he, two years before his second 1989 state examination , doctorate was. From 1991 he was a research assistant to Wolfgang Rüfner . 1996 habilitated to Muckel for the subjects of state and administrative law and canon law . After a substitute chair in the winter semester 1996/97 and in the summer semester 1997 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel , he took over the professorship for public law , in particular administrative law and administrative theory , at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum . In the following year he returned to his alma mater , where he has been Professor of Public Law and Canon Law since 1998, after changing the denomination of the chair in 2019 for Public Law and Religious Law. In addition, he is the director of the Institute for Canon Law and the History of Canon Law in the Rhineland, which was renamed the Institute for Religious Law in 2019.

Muckel deals particularly with Roman Catholic church law and state church law . Together with Manfred Baldus, he has published decisions on church matters since 1946 .

On June 27, 2019, Muckel received an honorary doctorate from the EBS University of Economics and Law for his services to research and teaching.

In September 2019 he was one of about 100 constitutional law teachers who, with the open appeal for the right to vote, Downsized the Bundestag! turned to the German Bundestag .
