Manfred Bierganz

Manfred Robert Stefan Bierganz (born December 26, 1942 in Reichenbach ; † February 7, 2000 in Stolberg (Rhineland) ) was a German high school teacher, local politician and historian .

Life

During his professional career, Manfred Bierganz taught German and history at the Goethe-Gymnasium in Stolberg and later at the Städtisches Gymnasium in Eschweiler . Until his early retirement he achieved the position of director of studies.

Manfred Bierganz got involved early on in researching his homeland Stolberg and the surrounding area. He wrote numerous papers and essays. His oeuvre currently represents one of the most comprehensive documentations of the local history of the Aachen urban region. He did not limit himself to depicting cities, towns and districts (e.g. Breinig , Würselen , Kornelimünster ). A large part of his research focused on the history of the Aachen region in the Third Reich , the description of Jewish life in the region and the political conditions during this time. With a thesis on Hermann Cardauns , Manfred Bierganz earned his doctorate. phil.

In addition to his commitment as chairman of the Eifel- und Heimatverein Stolberg- Zweifall , Manfred Bierganz was an active member of the board of the German Red Cross (DRK) district of Aachen , member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) , member of the Landesgemeinschaft Naturschutz und Umwelt (LNU) and chairman of the " Organizer association 107.8 Antenne AC “. For the LNU he was a member of the landscape advisory board in the Aachen district.

Manfred Bierganz was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany ( SPD ). Here he was u. a. Chairman of the local SPD association Stolberg- Vicht / Zweifall. He was also active as a knowledgeable citizen in the city council of Stolberg.

Manfred Bierganz died of heart failure in February 2000 .
