Manfred Dubski (born September 19, 1954 in Bottrop ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer coach .

Career

Dubski comes from a working-class family, his father was a crane driver, his mother a cleaning lady.

As a player

Dubski began his footballing career in the youth department of SV Fortuna Bottrop . However , he and his parents initially turned down an offer from Günter Siebert to move to FC Schalke 04 at the age of 16, as Dubski initially wanted to finish his apprenticeship as a lathe operator.

FC Schalke 04

In 1972 Dubski then moved to the Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 . In his first season he was part of the club's first team. With the miners he was used in all positions, from defense to attack. However, the paths parted at the beginning of the 1978/79 season.

MSV Duisburg

In the summer of 1978 Dubski came from league rivals Schalke 04 to MSV Duisburg . At MSV he immediately became a regular player and remained so until his departure in 1986. Dubski reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals with the team in his first season, while in the Bundesliga they fought against relegation, which came in 13th could be prevented. His next three seasons at MSV were also marked by the relegation battle. He was relegated twice with MSV Duisburg. 1981/82 from the first Bundesliga to the second division and 1985/86 from the second division to the Oberliga Nordrhein .

RW Oberhausen

As a trainer

From 1992 to 2008 he coached the B-youth of FC Schalke 04. With her he won the championship title in 2002. From 2008 to 2010 he worked as a scout for FC Schalke 04. In the 2010/11 season he was coach of the Schalke U17 team again, and for the 2011/12 season Dubski will take over the assistant coaching position of the U23 team .
