Manfred Haake
Manfred Haake (born November 9, 1943 in Jänschwalde ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1966 he was third in the world championship in double sculls .
Haake from the Berlin TSC got into the double scull with Jochen Brückheller in 1964 , after Brückheller and Helmut Gerds had already become GDR champions in 1962 and 1963. Between 1964 and 1969, Haake and Brück Händler won the GDR championship title five times, only losing to Klaus Schäbitz and Joachim Böhmer in 1967 .
At the rowing world championships in 1966 , Haake and Brückhandel took third place behind the boats from Switzerland and the USA. They also won bronze behind the USA and Austria at the European Rowing Championships in 1969 . Only at the Olympic Games in 1968 did the two not compete together; Manfred Haake reached the finals together with Hans-Ulrich Schmied and took fifth place.
