Manfred Hellmann (born August 16, 1962 in Cloppenburg ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Before Manfred Hellmann became a professional footballer with his move to Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin , he was active at the clubs BV Cloppenburg , VfB Oldenburg and SV Atlas Delmenhorst . Like Hellmann, Blau-Weiß was a newcomer to the 2nd Bundesliga. The club, with manager and patron Kropatschek, played a good role in the second division and came seventh in 1984/85. A year later they even rose to the Bundesliga as a runner-up, to which Hellmann played his part as a regular player. The Bundesliga season ended with the direct relegation. After another season in the 2nd Bundesliga, Hellmann moved to Bundesliga club Bayer 05 Uerdingen . There the defensive player could not prevail against players such as Holger Fach , Gerhard Kleppinger and Friedhelm Funkel and only made eleven appearances in two years. He went back to Berlin and signed a contract with Tennis Borussia in 1990 . With TB Berlin he became the Berlin city champion and was the team's second most successful goalscorer with 16 goals. In the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga they failed.
For professional reasons, Hellmann left his club after a season and returned to his home country. He joined his hometown club BV Cloppenburg there. In 1994 he ended his career. In 1995/96 he played one last game for BV Cloppenburg, which now played in the Regionalliga.
Hellmann is a self-employed businessman and occasionally plays in the AH team at BV Cloppenburg.
