Manfred Kalz (born December 5, 1937 in Berlin ; † January 20, 2015 ) was a German pediatrician and politician .

Life and work

After the study of the Humboldt University of Berlin doctorate Kalz there 1961 work basic 2-experimental renal injury in rats by oral administration of 1- and Na phosphate Dr. med. After working as an assistant doctor at the Physiological Institute in Berlin and subsequently working as a pediatrician with the establishment of the neonatology department in the Friedrichshain hospital, he became chief physician of the children's clinic at the Neuruppin district hospital in 1987 . After 2000 he was chairman of the academy for advanced medical training of the Brandenburg State Medical Association in Cottbus and from 2007 chairman of the administrative committee for medical care in the state of Brandenburg.

He was married and had four children.

politics

Kalz joined the newly founded SDP at the end of 1989 and was elected to the People's Chamber for the SPD in the Potsdam constituency in March 1990 . In October 1990 he was one of the 144 MPs sent to the Bundestag by the People's Chamber . He was particularly committed to caring for young children in families as well as medical and professional issues. In the Bundestag election in December 1990 , he did not run again. In 1998 he left the SPD and became involved in the non-party voter group "Pro Ruppin".
