Manfred Klinkott

Christian Manfred Klinkott (born August 20, 1936 in Berlin ) is a German building researcher and building historian .

Manfred Klinkott studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin from 1957 to 1965 and was awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1971 under Ernst Heinrich with the work of Martin Gropius and the Berlin School . PhD . Since that year he has been teaching at the University of Karlsruhe and doing research for the German Archaeological Institute in Spain, Afghanistan, Turkey and Syria. He worked on the excavations in Pergamon , Troy and Alexandria Troas , where he examined the city walls. In 1980 the habilitation on Islamic architecture in Afghan-Sīstān took place in Karlsruhe . With a historical overview from Alexander the Great to the time of the Safavid dynasty . In 1980 Klinkott became a professor of building history at the Faculty of Architecture at Karlsruhe University. In 2001 he retired. Since his retirement he has been a lecturer at the AWWK - Academy for Scientific Further Education in Karlsruhe. Klinkott is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute.
