Manfred Kmoch

Manfred Kmoch (born March 7, 1925 in Bisamberg ; † July 22, 1979 in Korneuburg ) was an Austrian homeland researcher .

Life

From his earliest youth, Kmoch worked with his father, the caricaturist and local researcher Ladislaus Kmoch , in the area of ​​the Bisamberg and the southern part of the central Weinviertel . After his death he continued to work alone. From 1971 he published his research results in the local history journal Korneuburger Kulturnachrichten . From preservation of the monument sense of responsibility he was a regular freelancer of the Federal Monuments Office in Vienna and published in the journal of the Institution Fund Reports from Austria numerous reports of Prehistory and Early History.

Kmoch also dealt with mythological and paleosocial questions and published about them.

He documented numerous prehistoric settlements and collected important finds, including the famous idol of Wetzleinsdorf , a Middle Neolithic sculpture in a sitting position.

Kmoch was also the curator of the prehistoric and early historical collection of the Korneuburg Museum. The Natural History Museum in Vienna appointed him a correspondent.
