Manfred Pertlwieser
Manfred Pertlwieser (born April 6, 1935 in Linz ; † February 19, 2015 there ) was an Austrian prehistorian , graphic artist and author of numerous specialist articles.
education
Pertlwieser began his work after attending compulsory school in 1950 in the Upper Austrian State Museum in the biological department, where he received a practical and thorough training. Led by experts from botany , zoology and geology , he acquired a wide range of knowledge that would later be of use to him when analyzing bone finds. His work for the survey department of the State Gendarmeriekommando Oberösterreich contributed to broadening the horizon of knowledge as well as the demands that his anatomy teacher placed on him.
Professional activities
In 1971, Pertlwieser and Vlasta Tovornik (* 1934 in Kutina / Croatia ) took over the burial ground archeology department at the State Museum in Linz, which he renamed the anthropological- archeological laboratory, and in 1986 the prehistory and early history department , with Pertlwieser specializing in this area specialized in prehistoric excavations .
Among the highlights of his professional activity he counted the excavations carried out from 1981 to 1989 on the Hallstatt-era barrows in Lehen in the market town of Mitterkirchen im Machland , where under his conception, the Celtic village of Mitterkirchen, the most popular Upper Austrian open-air museum could be founded and built.
