Manfred Pilsz (born August 6, 1954 in Linz ) is an Austrian teacher and cultural worker .

Life

Pilsz dedicated himself to singing from the age of 6 (elementary school). After his first attempts as an autodidact during high school, he began his studies in 1973 at the Bruckner Conservatory of Upper Austria . (Singing class Gertrud Burgsthaler-Schuster ), which he completed in 1979 with the artistic maturity examination. Lively concert activity (tenor) of the Bayreuth scholarship holder until the beginning of 90. His grammar school ( BRG Linz Fadingerstraße ) brought him back to the house in 1974 while he was still studying . Here he worked as a teacher for music education and subsequently also in media education (media branch MRG). Even before graduating from high school, Pilsz was interested in making sound recordings and broadcasts. Later, from the eighties, he occasionally worked as an employee for various media (including the ORF regional studio Upper Austria. Music department / Wolfgang Winkler ). Pilsz supervised programs for schoolchildren (“Children's News” & “Soundcheck”). He took courses and took part in workshops that opened up the world of film to him. Pilsz began making music films (role model: Titus Leber ), took part with his students and videos at the Austrian Film Days in Wels, founded the student film program cinema (SFPK), got involved with YOUKI and in 1998 created the FRECH student radio (youth media partner of the cultural capital Linz) . For more than 20 years he wrote cabaret programs, with which he and his students made the BRG the cabaret of this genre (workshops & performances with Josef Hader / contributions in Ö1)  

Until the end of 2015, Pilsz worked as a teacher at the BRG Linz, Fadingerstraße (retired) and remains active in music and media projects. He lives in Linz, has been married to Eva (née Traunmüller) since 1982 and has two children.

  • 1996: Goldenes Eurofilmband (film / video European competition) for "Agnus Benedictus"
  • 1997: Small state culture award for initiative cultural work (video) of the state of Upper Austria
  • 1997: Winner film at the international " Festival of Nations " with "In the Eye of the Cyclops"
  • 1998: State champion film with "Isoldens Oden an die Nacht" (Innsbruck)
  • 2000: Small state culture award for initiative cultural work (radio) of the state of Upper Austria.
  • 2003: Goldenes Eurofilmband (film / video European competition) for "The 5th Dimension"
  • 2005: "Teaching Award" (MLA / Federal Ministry of Education)
  • 2010: Culture Medal of the Province of Upper Austria                                                                          
  • 2012: Erwin Wenzl Prize of the State of Upper Austria (for Radio FRECH)                                                        
  • 2016: Honorary Award "Passion for Film" from Austrian film authors (life's work) 
  • 2016: Gold Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria

In the context of Music & Media, active in teacher training at the former Pedagogical Academy, as well as at the Landesmusikschulwerk. Media educational projects with the Bruckner Orchestra as part of Move, On: "TraumFabrik" & "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"

Among the composers of the visualized musical works is Bruckner , Wagner , Mahler , Zykan , Cage , Glass and others the artistic companion Helmut Rogl. Two examples of music videos that were created in cooperation with the composer Helmut Rogl:
