Manfred Plath (born December 12, 1961 in Kaiserslautern ) is a former German football player and coach .
career
As a child, Manfred Plath began playing football in a club at TuS Erfenbach in 1968. In 1979, as an A-youth, he went to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . From the summer of 1980 he was used for the amateurs of the FCK in the Oberliga Südwest , trained by ex-goalkeeper Sepp Stabel . For the 1982/83 season, the 1.83 m tall defender turned professional. He made his Bundesliga debut on March 6, 1982 when he was substituted on by coach "Kalli" Feldkamp in the 90th minute of the 2-1 win against Bayern Munich . By 1984 Plath had played 19 games for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga , 13 of them in the 1982/83 season under the coaches Rudi Kröner and Ernst Diehl .
From 1984 he was active in the south-west upper division FSV Salmrohr . In 1986 he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga with Salmrohr and was used in 33 games in the following 1986/87 season, scoring one goal. After the direct relegation, Plath played again in the league for Salmrohr until 1993. From 1993 to 2005 he was a (player) coach of the amateur club SV Mackenbach , which he led from the B-class to the national league. As a SVM player, he was on the pitch 320 times (around 40 goals).
In addition to 19 Bundesliga and 33 second division games (one goal), he completed 314 league games (48 goals). In 1983 he played three games for the German U-21 national team under coach Berti Vogts .
As a player in the Rhineland Football Association, Plath won the regional cup; with the FSV Salmrohr he became German amateur champion in 1990 .
Today (2010) Plath plays for the AH team of SV Mackenbach and for the traditional team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
