Manfred Schröter (politician)

Manfred Schröter (born February 13, 1935 in Nordhausen ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and was Lord Mayor of the city of Nordhausen am Harz from 1990 to 1994 .

Life

Manfred Schröter learned the weaving trade and then studied medicine . After receiving his doctorate in 1960, he worked as a doctor in his hometown of Nordhausen for 30 years. From June 1990 to June 1994 Manfred Schröter was Lord Mayor of Nordhausen; in the runoff election on June 26, 1994, he was defeated by Barbara Rinke ( SPD ) with 39.1 percent.

Manfred Schröter wrote local history publications on the destruction of Nordhausen and the regional history of the Jews.

On the occasion of the “30 Years of Peaceful Revolution” ceremony on November 9, 2019, Manfred Schröter was awarded the “Nordhausen Badge of Honor”.
