Manfred Schuller

Manfred Schuller (* 1953 in Munich ) is a German building researcher and university professor.

After graduating from high school, Schuller studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich from 1975–1980 (diploma in 1981) and, in parallel, from 1976–1979, classical archeology and art history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . For his doctorate in building history and building research with Gottfried Gruben , he received the Friends of TUM Prize.

In 1986 he became professor for building research and building history at the University of Bamberg , where he was primarily responsible for the postgraduate course in monument conservation (master's degree since 2003). 1997–1998 he was dean and 1999–2002 vice dean of the Faculty of History and Earth Sciences, and 1999–2000 senator of the university. From 2002 to 2005 he acted as the Bamberg spokesman for the graduate college "Art History - Building Research - and Monument Preservation" at the University of Bamberg and the TU Berlin . On March 1, 2006, he was appointed professor of building history, historical building research and monument preservation at the Technical University of Munich.

His research interests span wide areas of the history of architecture and construction technology such as Greek temples, medieval cathedrals, Venetian churches and palaces, baroque gardens and roof structures of all times.
