Manfred Schuster (born December 19, 1942 in Schwarzkollm ) is a former German soccer player who was active in the GDR league in the 1960s and 1970s for SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg and FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt .

Athletic career

Brieske, Cottbus

As a player in the company sports community (BSG) activist Laubusch , Schuster was part of the GDR junior national team between 1960 and 1961. In four international matches he was used as a midfielder. After he had become eligible to play for the men's area, he played with the BSG activist in the third-class II. GDR league until 1962 .

For the 1962/63 season he was delegated to the league club SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg. There he experienced the move to SC Cottbus in 1963 and the restructuring to BSG Energie Cottbus in 1966 . At the SC activist, he was used in the league team from the first day of play. In five point games he was regularly used as a half-right striker. After that, he had to take a break for several weeks and from the twelfth game day was used again regularly in the league, but now in midfield. During the entire season, Schuster made 19 league appearances, but without scoring a goal. At the end of the season, the SC activist had to relegate.

The sports club in Cottbus played from the 1963/64 season . With SC Cottbus, Schuster played 74 point games in the second-rate GDR league up to the first half of the 1965/66 season and scored six goals. From the second half of the season on, the team started as BSG Energie Cottbus. With her, Schuster completed another 45 GDR league games by the end of the first half of the 1967/68 season and scored seven more goals.

FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt

For the second half of the 1967/68 season, Schuster moved back to the league for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In the 13 remaining point games, he was used in eight games in different positions. In the following three league seasons Schuster secured himself a regular place in the midfield of FC and completed 55 games out of 78 played point games. After the 1970/71 season, FC Rot-Weiß had to relegate. In the GDR league season 1971/72 Schuster was still part of the Erfurt squad of the 1st team, but was not used. The FC Rot-Weiß rose immediately back to the league, and its 2nd team moved with the promotion to the GDR league. Schuster was assigned to the squad of the 2nd team, with which he played 19 point games in 1972/73, in which he scored six goals. For the 1973/74 season he was brought back to the 1st team, with which he completed 20 point games as a midfielder. At the age of 31 Schuster went into his last league season in 1974/75. He played another 17 point games and then ended his career in higher-class football. In the league he had played 119 point games, 100 of them for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, for which he also shot his only league goal.
