Manfred Sellge

Manfred Sellge (born March 10, 1941 ; † April 2, 2017 in Friedberg near Augsburg ) was a senior television editor at Westdeutscher Rundfunk . Sellge joined the sports department of WDR in 1968. He worked there in the field of sports as a presenter , reporter , director and filmmaker . He is considered the inventor of the Football Ballet (1974), although he himself in a WDR interview on the occasion of the football - WM stated in 1974, an idea of the BBC to have picked up.

Manfred Sellge worked for WDR for 33 years until he left in 2001 due to illness. Until he left, he was the editorial manager of Sport im West . He died in April 2017 at the age of 76 in Friedberg near Augsburg.
