Manfred Ullrich
Manfred Ullrich (born September 6, 1949 ) is a German table tennis player . He was one of the best players in the GDR in the 1970s and won a title at GDR championships twelve times.
Career
Ullrich began his career at the TSC Berlin club , whose table tennis department joined the BSG foreign trade in Berlin in 1968 . With the men's team he was from 1970 to 1980 with the exception of 1976 GDR champions.
In 1966 he had reached the quarter-finals with Wolfgang Vater at the European Youth Championships. In the same year he was East Berlin champion in singles by winning the final against Lothar Pleuse .
At the national championship of the GDR he won the doubles title with Norbert Drescher in 1974 and 1977 . He reached the final seven times in doubles, namely in 1968 with Wolfgang Stein , 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1982 with Norbert Drescher and in 1987 with Bernd Raue . In 1969 he finished second behind Wolfgang Viebig in the individual .
