Manga Love Story ( Japanese ふ た り エ ッ チ , Futari Etchi , German “Indecent for two”, also Futari H for short ) is a manga series by the Japanese artist Katsu Aki about sexual education . Due to the partially revealing content, the German version is recommended for ages 16 and up.
Meaning of the title
“Futari etchi” is an allusion to the Japanese expression hitori etchi ( 一 人 エ ッ チ , German for “indecent alone”, meaning masturbation ).

Yūra Kawada and Makoto Onoda meet at an omiai (arranged meeting of potential marriage candidates) and get married soon after. At first, they have difficulty living out their sexuality, as neither of them had sex at the time of their marriage. However, with the help of tips and the support of relatives, friends and acquaintances, they make rapid progress as the story progresses.
As additional information for the reader, the main topics of the respective chapters are accompanied and commented on with survey results and studies. At the same time, the series offers detailed insights into everyday Japanese life.

main characters
- Makoto Onoda ( 小野 田 真 , Onoda Makoto ), a 25-year-old salaryman , is a rather shy but sincere and kind man. Before he married Yura, he had no sexual experience . As the volumes progress, his skills as a lover and his love for Yura develop.
- Yura Onoda ( 小野 田 優良 , Onoda Yūra ), a 25-year-old housewife, is a lovable, loyal, extremely pretty and well-built woman. Like Makoto, she has no experience of sexuality at the beginning. At first she is very conservative, but later she lets herself be persuaded into more unusual sexual practices and finds more and more pleasure in trying out new things.
Supporting characters (selection)
- Akira Onoda ( 小野 田 明 , Onoda Akira ) is Makoto's older brother and lawyer. He's married, but that doesn't stop him from keeping an eye on other women and visiting brothels more often. He occasionally gives Makoto advice on sex techniques.
- Jun Onoda ( 小野 田 淳 , Onoda Jun ) is Makoto's 19-year-old sister and student. She has no sexual experience at the beginning of the series, but then has several affairs in search of true love before finding happiness with her first boyfriend, Yosuke.
- Kyoko Omiya ( 大 宮 杏子 , Ōmiya Kyōko ), Makoto's cousin, is a 30-year-old obstetrician and gynecologist and supports Yura and Makoto with medical advice. She is very dominant and initially still a virgin. She later marries Koichiro Matsuzaki, a colleague of Makoto's work.
- Rika Kawada ( 河田 梨 香 , Kawada Rika ) is Yūra's younger sister and sexually extremely keen to experiment. She often shows off her sexual experience. Besides her main friend Taku Yamada, she also has other, frequently changing relationships.

Manga
In Japan appears Manga Love Story (issue 1/1997) in individual chapters since December 1996 His - manga magazine Young Animal of the publishing Hakusensha . These individual chapters are also regularly summarized in 77 anthologies so far (as of January 2019). In 2003 and 2005, Katsu Aki also published two volumes of the spin-off series Manga Love Story for Ladies ( ふ た り エ ッ チ for Ladies, Futari Etchi for Ladies ), which contain stories with the same characters from a predominantly female point of view.
Manga Love Story has been published in German by Carlsen Comics since May 2003 ; 72 volumes have appeared so far. In October 2005 and February 2006 the publisher also brought out the two manga Love Story for Ladies volumes.
Anime
On 26 July 2002 and 27 September 2002 in Japan appeared Anime - OVA on DVD Futari Etchi on 27 November 2003 and 22 January 2004, the second season and 2nd Season: Futari Etchi , with a total of four episodes. These were animated by the Chaos Project studio, directed by Yūji Moriyama . In terms of content, they summarize the plot of the first seven manga volumes. Makoto is voiced by Yūji Ueda and Yūra by Tomoko Kawakami .
These four episodes were released in German under the title "Manga Love Story - Step Up Love Story" between June 11 and September 3, 2007 on two DVDs by Anime Virtual . On July 27, 2009, a new release appeared in a DVD box containing two DVDs, which was initially recalled due to a technical error. The German synchronized version was produced by TV + Synchron Berlin.
A third season has been announced for fall 2014, with this to be animated by Production Reed , directed by Tetsuro Amino.
Real film series
In 2011 and 2012, a live version of the manga was made in four parts under the direction of Kuzuhiro Yokoyama. The first part Eiga-ban Futari Etchi ( 映画版ふたりエッチ) came on June 18, 2011 in Japanese theaters and the second part Eiga-ban Futari Etchi: Second Kiss ( 映画版ふたりエッチセカンド♥キッス, ~: Sekando Kissu ) on December 17, 2011. The third and fourth part, Eiga-ban Futari Etchi: Triple Love ( 映 画 版 ふ た り エ ッ チ チ ト リ プ ル ♥ ラ ブ , ~: Toripuru Rabu ) and Eiga-ban Futari Etchi: Love Forever ( 映 画 版 ふ た り ラ ブ ッ ッ た り ラ ブ ッフ ォ ー エ バ ー , ~: Rabu Fōebā ), was performed together on May 12, 2012.
Yara was played by Gravure Idol Yūri Morishita and Makoto by Riki Miura .
