Manganese titelluride is an inorganic chemical compound of manganese from the group of tellurides .

Extraction and presentation

Manganese titelluride can be obtained by reacting stoichiometric amounts of manganese and tellurium in the absence of air.

properties

Manganese titelluride is an odorless solid that is practically insoluble in water. At temperatures below 83.8 K it is antiferromagnetic . Above its melting temperature, the compound decomposes to form manganese telluride and tellurium. Manganese titelluride has a cubic crystal structure of the pyrite type with the space group Pa 3 (space group no. 205) . Above 7 GPa, this changes into an orthorhombic crystal structure of the marcasite type . Template: room group / 205

use

Manganese titelluride is used as an intermediate in the production of other chemical compounds.
