The Mangfall barracks is a former barracks of the Bundeswehr in Bad Aibling in Bavaria . It was built in 1978 and was named after the Mangfall River in 1990 . The property is located in the north-western part of Bad Aibling on Grassingerstraße.
history
The Mangfall barracks was built in 1978 for the Bundeswehr Air Force and moved into on September 1, 1980. She served as accommodation for staff of at Tuntenhausen - Lampferding located HAWK -Raketenstellung the second battery of anti-aircraft missile battalion 33 . The battalion was decommissioned on December 31, 2002. The then Federal Border Police (BGS) , among others, were discussed as subsequent users . However, the BGS was not relocated to the Mangfall barracks.
The Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has been operating the BND branch in Bad Aibling on the property since 2003 . This was legendary until 2014 under the name "Fernmeldeweitverkehrsstelle der Bundeswehr" . Bad Aibling Station , a former eavesdropping base of the American National Security Agency (NSA), is in the immediate vicinity .
The property came into the public eye in the context of the global surveillance and espionage affair. With selectors selected by the NSA, the BND had cleared up ongoing communication via satellites and passed it on to the NSA.
