Mangoo is a Finnish rock band from Turku that was formed in 2004.

history

The band was formed in 2004. A first untitled EP followed in the following year . Several appearances followed, while the band was working on new songs and the post of drummer changed several times. In 2009 the debut album Neolithic was released via 7:45 Records , which was then played several times on the radio. In the following years concerts all over Finland followed. Since then the line-up has remained unchanged with Pickles as singer and guitarist, Mattarn as guitarist, Igor as bassist, Teemu as drummer and Nicke as keyboardist. About Small Stone Records followed in 2012 the second album under the name Neverland . As with its predecessor, the album was recorded and produced by the band themselves. Mixing was done by Benny Grotto . After the release it went on tour through Sweden and Finland with their Swedish label mates Mother of God and The Midnight Ghost Train from the USA .

style

Eckart Maronde from Metal.de wrote in his review of Neolithic that the music is characterized by a fuzz sound, a singer who is supported by all other members, and a strong use of synthesizers. In addition, an influence from Hawkwind can be heard. Overall, the songs are catchy, varied and full of character, with a good refrain or a hookline in the foreground. Ann-Kathrin Wilhelm from Ox-Fanzine stated in her review of Neverland that the band offers a "battle between spacey synthesizer blues - stoner rock ". The album seems like a film soundtrack to her, with no two songs being the same. The use of synthesizer effects gives one song a psychedelic character, while another can be attributed to the blues through singing and guitar. The group also occasionally process "snotty guitar riffs " in the style of Pearl Jam or bass-heavy material in the stoner rock style.
