Manlio Sodi

Manlio Sodi SDB (born January 22, 1944 in Sinalunga , Province of Siena ) is an Italian Salesian of Don Bosco and liturgical scholar . From April 2009 to June 2014 he was President of the Pontifical Academy of Theology .

After obtaining his licentiate in theology at the Pontifical University of the Salesians in 1973 , followed by a licentiate in liturgy in 1975 and a doctorate in liturgy in 1978 at the Anselmianum , he worked as a professor of liturgy, sacraments and homiletics at the Pontifical Salesian University and was from 1999 to 2005 dean of the theological faculty.

Since 1986 he has worked on numerous encyclopedias for catechetics, youth pastoral care, educational science, peace theology, mysticism, liturgy, theology of the blood of Christ and homiletics. Between 1997 and 2005 he edited the series "Monumenta Liturgica Concilii Tridentini", since 2000 he has been working on the series "Monumenta Studia Instrumente Liturgica" (volumes 7 and following) and since 2007 on the series "Monumenta Liturgica Piana" and the series " La persona al centro "with.

From 1978 on he was on the editorial board of the journal "Rivista Liturgica", and in 1997 he became director of this council.

From 1984 to 1999 he was consultor of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments . Since 1994 he has been consultor in the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Pope and since 1999 a full member of the Pontifical Academy of Theology, of which he became President in April 2009. Since 2002 he has taught at the International Pontifical Marian Academy .
