Manon Rasmussen

Manon Rasmussen (born August 2, 1951 in Horsens ) is a Danish costume designer .

Life and accomplishments

Manon Rasmussen is the daughter of a furniture upholsterer and a hairdresser. She originally studied acting with the Solvognen theater group . During this time she came into contact with costume design, which is why she decided to train as a tailor at the Københavns Tilskærerakademi in 1976 . After completing her training, she found a job as an assistant to costume designer Gitte Kolvig and then became a freelance costume designer.

Since the late 1970s, Rasmussen has been responsible for the costumes for over 70 film and television productions. During this time she worked with the most prominent Danish directors, such as Thomas Vinterberg , Bille August , Susanne Bier , Christoffer Boe and Lars von Trier . She is the most frequently nominated and awarded costume designer at the Danish Film Prize Robert . It has also received several international awards. At the Satellite Awards 2012 she received the award for best costume design for her costumes in The Queen and the Personal Physician .
