Manuel António Pina

Manuel António Pina (born November 18, 1943 in Sabugal , † October 19, 2012 in Porto ) was a Portuguese journalist and writer .

Life

Studied law, Pina is a journalist by training and regularly writes columns in Portuguese newspapers. At the Jornal de Notícias in Porto , he also worked as publisher and editor-in-chief .

His first lyric work, Ainda Não É o Fim nem o Princípio do Mundo Calma É Apenas Um Pouco Tarde, he published in 1974. His main works include children's books and translations. He also wrote for theater, film and television. Often his books are characterized by an unusual use of Portuguese . Pina has been translated into several languages.

In 2011 he received the Prémio Camões, the most important literary prize in his country. The large jury with Ana Paula Tavares unanimously recognized Pina with the award.
