Manuel Forcano

Manuel Forcano (born August 2, 1968 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish Catalan-language writer , Semitic philologist and translator of Hebrew poetry .

Life

Manuel Forcano worked as a lecturer in Hebrew and Aramaic at the University of Barcelona . He translated various Israeli poets - e. B. Jehuda Amichai and Ronny Someck - as well as prose by EM Forster in Catalan .

Since 1993 he has published several volumes of his own poetry. El tren de Baghdad (The Train to Baghdad) was awarded the Premi Carles Riba de poesia literary prize in 2003 .

Forcanos fan clubs have now formed in Catalonia , and a restaurant names one of its dishes after the poet.
