Manuel Gera
Manuel Gera (* 1963 ) is a German church musician and organist .
Gera studied Protestant church music at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf . There he passed the A-exam in 1991 . His teachers included Hartmut Schmidt (choir director), Hans-Dieter Möller (organ) and Gustav Adolf Krieg (organ improvisation). After completing postgraduate studies at the Saarland University of Music with Daniel Roth and Theo Brandmüller , he completed the concert exam in organ improvisation in 1995 . Also in 1995 he was awarded third prize at the International Competition for Organ Improvisation in Schwäbisch Gmünd .
After positions as cantor in Oberhausen and Soest , he was appointed to the Michaeliskirche in Hamburg in 2001 . There he heads the St. Michaelis Choir. In 2006 he was appointed church music director by the church administration of the North Elbe Church .
The focus of his organistic activity is organ improvisation . Together with his wife Anne-Katrin Gera, he designs organ concerts for children.
