Manuel Krass
Manuel Krass (born July 8, 1988 in Saarbrücken ) is a German jazz musician ( piano , composition ).
Live and act
Until he studied music with Georg Ruby at the Saar University of Music, Krass was self-taught on the jazz piano . During his studies he founded the piano trio Krassport with Johannes Schmitz, guitar and Daniel Weber, drums. In 2010 he composed the ballet music "Silent Mov (i) e" (choreography: Marguerite Donlon ) on behalf of the Saarland State Theater and the Donlon Dance Company .
With his group Krassport he deconstructs various musical material, e.g. B. well-known jazz standards (album under-stand-art ) or the late romantic orchestral suite " The Planets " by Gustav Holst (album The Planets - Discovering Gustav Holst ). Both albums were released on the Cologne label JazzHausMusik and were positively rated by the press as "one of the most beautiful releases of recent times". In Cadence Magazine stated: "If the unexpected is what the listener is looking for then one need look no further than piano trio Krass Port".
Beyond Krassport , Krass works with musicians such as Wollie Kaiser , Oliver Strauch , Claas Willeke , the artist group Die Redner and Christof Thewes .
Prizes and awards
In 2010 Krass was awarded the prize of the St. Ingbert International Jazz Festival. In the same year Krassport won both the Grand Prix and the Prix de Public at the international jazz competition "Tremplin Jazz d'Avignon" in southern France.
