Oliver Bush
Oliver Strauch (* 16th March 1966 in Saarbrücken ) is a jazz - drummer , composer and music producer .
Live and act
Oliver Strauch is the son of the caricaturist Bob Strauch and the art teacher and ceramist Beate Strauch. From 1990 Strauch received instrumental lessons from Billy Higgins , Janusz Stefański and Allan Jones. Since 1991 he has given concerts at home and abroad, a. a. with Lee Konitz , Martial Solal , Philip Catherine , Kenny Wheeler , Biréli Lagrène , Bobby Shew , René Urtreger , Nils Landgren , Paul Kuhn , Barbara Dennerlein and Jimmy Woode . From 1995 he had international engagements in the big band Europool Jazz Orchestra and the combos of Tony Lakatos and Michel Hausser . Since 1999 he has been on concert tours for the Goethe Institute through Hungary , Russia and France . He received composition commissions for the Trier Theater (“ Oedipus ”) and the Völklinger Hütte World Heritage Site ( sound installation ).
From 2000 onwards he tours with the trumpeter Ernie Hammes to Vietnam , Canada , USA , Italy and a masterclass in Fortaleza , Brazil (2003). Since 2005 “Oliver Strauch's Groovin 'High” has been working closely with Randy Brecker . In 2007 the artist ensemble Die Redner was founded , which set itself the task of translating political-visionary rhetoric into music and images (“EuroVision: Brandt de Gaulle”).
In 2009 there was a release on Blue Note Records (Jazz X Change: Walk Tall , Tribute to Joe Zawinul ) as well as a collaboration in New York with Kenny Werner and Matt Penman . In the same year he was appointed professor for jazz drums at the Saar University of Music .
