Manuel Vicent

Manuel Vicent (born March 10, 1936 in Villavieja , Province of Castellón , Spain ) is a Spanish journalist and one of Spain's most important poets.

After studying law and philosophy at the University of Valencia , he studied journalism at the Escuela Oficial in Madrid . There his first political writings appeared, including in Hermano lobo y Triunfo and in the now defunct daily newspaper Madrid . He later wrote for El País . In 1979 , in their Sunday supplement, a portrait series of 47 key figures in the Spanish transition appeared under his name - the transition phase from Franquism to a Western democracy.

In addition to his journalistic work, his novels, plays, stories, travelogues, gastronomy reviews, interviews and literary portraits also contributed to his level of awareness. His novels The Song of the Waves and Tranvía a la Malvarrosa were filmed by Bigas Luna and José Luis García Sánchez .
