Manuel Zigerli (born May 8, 1989 in Biel ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been a striker for the EHC Zuchwil Regio in the third-class first division, Central Switzerland Group , since 2015 . He is the son of the former EHC Biel player , Hugo Zigerli .

Career

Manuel Zigerli went through all junior levels of the EHC Biel and joined the club's first team in the 2005/06 season . After the rise of the EHC Biel in the National League A , he switched to the EHC Basel on loan with a B license for the 2008/09 season . During the season, EHC Biel also had the opportunity to appoint the attacker to the NLA squad if necessary. In the Basel jersey, Zigerli also completed his most statistically successful season to date with eight goals and 23 assists in 35 NLB games. After his return to EHC Biel, he was denied the breakthrough in the top Swiss league for the next two seasons, despite plenty of match practice. On the one hand, this was due to Zigerli's weaknesses in the offensive game, on the other hand, the relatively often changing attack lines of the Bieler had a noticeable influence on his attack behavior, which lacked consistency.

For the 2012/13 season , the Bieler was signed for two seasons by the NLB club HC La Chaux-de-Fonds . After tying his boots for league competitor HC Ajoie in 2014/15 , he moved to EHC Zuchwil Regio in 2015 in the third-class first division .

Zigerli is considered to be an exemplary actor in fighting, but who is playfully limited in the offensive area and who lacks efficiency in front of the opposing goal. His qualities are generally in the defensive area.

International

After the attacker had played in three international matches for Switzerland's U18 team during the 2006/07 season, the left-handed shooter completed his only junior-level world championship tournament at the 2009 U20 Junior World Championship , in which Zigerli played in Division I and with of the Swiss U18 selection achieved promotion to the top division. The striker was instrumental in this success with five hits and three assists, only Grégory Sciaroni (10) and Pascal Berger (8) had at least as many points to show.
