Manuela Grochowiak-Schmieding (born January 24, 1959 in Niederlahnstein ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

education and profession

Manuela Grochowiak-Schmieding completed vocational training as a nurse in Neuwied and worked in the hospital's intensive care unit. After working for 13 years in Berlin, she moved to Oerlinghausen in 1992 . She was involved in various voluntary activities: founding a mother / child group in Lipperzeile, working in the Agenda group, founding the first Nabu children's group, offering holiday games for 10 years, working at the natural learning site, etc. In 1998, she began as a museum educator in the archaeological open-air museum in Oerlinghausen . She is married and has two daughters. She has a hunting license , a glider license and a sailing license.

Political activity

Grochwiak-Schmieding has been active in Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1998. From 1999 to 2011 she was a council member in the city council of Oerlinghausen and from 2001 to 2011 parliamentary group spokeswoman there. From 2004 to 2012 she was a member of the Lippe district council and deputy district administrator . Since 2008 she has been the spokesperson for the Lippe district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. In the local elections in 2009 she ran as a candidate for mayor and in 2010 as a direct candidate for the state election.

In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012, Grochwiak-Schmieding ran again for the direct mandate in the Lippe I state electoral district , but was defeated. Your list placement on the reserve list of the Greens was not enough for direct entry into the state parliament. Due to the separation of office and mandate, she succeeded Johannes Remmel as a member of the state parliament in November 2012.

Since November 2, 2012, Grochwiak-Schmieding was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. She was the social policy spokesperson for the Green Group and a member of the Committee on Labor, Health and Social Affairs. She was a deputy member of the Culture Committee and the Constitutional Commission. Due to the loss of her mandate in the 2017 state election , she is no longer a member of the new state parliament.
