María Lorenzotti , full name María Pía Lorenzotti , (born July 13, 1996 ) is a Uruguayan table tennis player .

Career

The 1.60 meter tall Lorenzotti is the younger sister of the table tennis player Gonzalo Lorenzotti . She started playing table tennis professionally at the age of 11. In Paraguay took part in the U-11 South American Championships, but could not win any of their completed games in the course of the tournament there. At the South American Schoolchildren's Championships in Lima , she won both a silver and a bronze medal. She also took 2nd and 3rd place at the international U-15 ITTF tournament in Chile. In Ecuador, she celebrated the tournament victory in the individual at the ITTF Open in the U-21 age group. In 2013 she won the bronze medal in singles at the 2013 South American Youth Games in Lima. In mixed she won gold alongside the Brazilian Massao Kohatsu . The responsible coach at these games was Ernesto Lorenzotti. In October 2013, she finished 5th in the U-18 world rankings. At that time she played for the Swedish team Mälarenergi, which participated in the European Cup of national champions. In 2014 she was part of the Uruguayan team at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing . In the same year she won the women's singles title at the Junior South American Championships in 2014 . Lorenzotti was Uruguayan champion in the women's singles in 2014, ahead of second-placed Sandra Suárez and last year's champion Marcela Di Leone in third place. In June 2015, starting for Club Ltm , she won the Torneo Metropolitano in both singles and doubles alongside her brother Gonzalo. She then took part with the Uruguayan team in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto . There she finished 9th in the women's singles.

So far, María Lorenzotti has been nominated twice for participation in world championships , namely in 2013 and 2015 , but never came close to medal ranks.
