Only between 1912 and 1924 did he maintain its own football department , from which the independent SC Brühl 06/45 subsequently emerged. From 1950, other sports were introduced and a modern department structure built up, with the number of members increasing to around 450 in 1965 and climbing over the thousand mark for the first time in 1970. Starting in 1997, the establishment of a separate fitness department brought a significant increase in membership .

In addition, he owns four of his own sports facilities and regularly uses the city's Schlossparkstadion. His focus is on athletics and running , but the departments for dance and rugby were also able to celebrate national successes. In addition, the Brühler TV 1879 is successful in classic team sports : in handball , volleyball and basketball , it maintains several men's, women's and mixed teams that participate in the respective league operations.

The A-Team of TSC Brühl in BTV 1879 was founded in 2007 and started in the 2007/2008 season in the regional league West Latin with the musical theme "Salsa Caliente". The team won the league and was able to prevail in the promotion tournament to the Oberliga West Latin. In the following season, the team with the revised theme “Salsa Caliente reloaded” also won the Oberliga West Latin and rose again after the promotion tournament to the Regional West Latin league. In the Regional League West Latin, the A-Team danced to the new musical theme "Cinemotion" in the 2009/2010 season and, with second place in the league, qualified for the promotion tournament to the 2nd Bundesliga Latin, in which it also took second place and thus promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga Latin. The 2nd Bundesliga was also won and so the formation managed to march through from the regional league to the 1st Latin Bundesliga.

In the 1st Bundesliga Latin, however, the team with the musical theme “Rihanna” came last at the end of the 2011/2012 season and was relegated back to the 2nd Bundesliga. The team then broke up. The coaches were Patrick Klinkhammer and Katja Matuschowitz.

After the dissolution of the A-team, the previous B-team, which had competed in league competitions since the 2010/2011 season - first in the regional West Latin league and a year later in the Oberliga West Latin - became the new A-team. The team competed in league competitions until the 2017/2018 season, most recently in the West Latin regional league. The last coach was Tobias Devooght.
